Girls Leadership Training/ Information Sessions

Objective

The sessions aim to increase access to information, awareness and education on leadership and life skills, put sports values into practice and create an enabling environment where the girls and beneficiaries will be willing to reflect positive attitudes and disseminate further the values and behavioural aspects they have acquired.

 

Description

The training seeks to help develop a foundation for teen to be more conscious about themselves and more aware of their abilities. It provides them with guidelines for tackling and achieving personal goals with more self-assurance.

More than 300 girls and community members attended the leadership training and the trainings are still ongoing.  The training enabled girls to acquire leadership skills, realize that they as athletes have a lot of leadership qualities, understand their roles in initiating positive change, review and optimize their own leadership behaviour.

 

The coaches received a Training of Trainers on leadership and they replicated this training with the girls of the project in collaboration with NSCE staff.

Expected Results

This training seeks to help develop a foundation for teen girls to:

  1. Recognize the impact of sports on self-esteem and personal development

  2. Put sports values into practice

  3. Be more conscious about themselves and more aware of their abilities and the importance of setting goals

  4. Learn to tackle and achieve personal goals with more self-assurance

  5. Understand the meaning of leadership

  6. Become familiar with the qualities of a leader

  7. Realize that as athletes they have a lot of leadership qualities

  8. Recognize and assess the impact of their own leadership behaviour on others.

  9. Become familiar with the main the main types of leadership behaviour

  10. Realize that they can become leaders

  11. Acquire leadership skills and be more aware and attached to their communities and understand their roles in initiating positive change, however small, in their communities

  12. Get the opportunity to review and to optimize their own leadership behaviour

  13. Recognize and appreciate opportunities that may come in the form of challenges

  14. Develop practical plans for self-empowerment and helping others

  15. Consider human values in whatever steps they take beyond the program, throughout life
